About the Fencing Academy of NSW

The Fencing Academy of NSW is run by the NSW Fencing Association and its training programs are delivered at the NSW Fencing Centre (the Duncan Fairweather Fencing Centre) in Alexandria, Sydney.

The Fencing Centre is the headquarters of fencing in NSW and hosts:

  • The NSW Fencing Academy, including State Squads and Fence4Fun.
  • The Australian High Performance Program (HPP) for fencers who represent Australia in Asian and World competitions
  • State and National competitions
  • NSW and Australian School Championships
  • HPP training camps
  • School holiday camps

The Fencing Centre is fully equipped as a training and competition centre and operates 7 days a week.

At the Academy, with great support from our professional coaching team, we try to create an environment to allow young fencers to grow with fun, challenge them when they are ready, and support each other while competing fiercely on the piste.

We have a wide range of fencing programs for people of all ages and levels of experience. As an indoor sport, fencing  is a great way to stay fit throughout the year and test yourself in friendly rivalry.

The Academy caters for all levels of  fencer, from beginners to competitive fencers and fencers of all ages, though most of our students are under 18.

While open to all, the Academy is the powerhouse for high performance at state, national and international level.

The recent National Champions produced by the Academy can be found here.

Many fencers who train at the Academy are also in the National Squad as part of the HPP. Academy fencers train with National Squad members and also have opportunities to spar with fencers from other clubs during State Squad training.
